The gorgeous Ellen Connolly dropped down to the studio a while ago for a shoot to get some new looks for her book and to get some good Wexford fresh air. Ellen is a stunning model currently with Assets.
Meet Christina, the beautiful Romanian Model, based in Abu Dhabi but who travels the world. I found Christina on Model Mayhem while searching for models to shoot in Dubai. I was visiting Australia in February 2016, with a stop off in Dubai, so it was a great opportunity to get a shoot in or two.
We only had 2 hours to shoot in my place in Dubai, a 34th floor apartment. It was some natural looks, minimal makeup, nothing too fancy. The setup was kept minimal also, using just window light for the majority of the shots. For the last set on the bed, I introduced a speedlight into the mix. I experimenting playing around with it as a fill light for some shots and using it as a key. I had connected to a pocket wizard, so it was wireless and hence Christina was able to play around with it.
Emma Quinlan is back in studio! It was well over a year since our last shoot to it was great to have the messer back down! It was more of a mess that a shoot, no set plan just throw a few ideas out there and see what happens. Although with Emma, it usually involved plenty and flesh.
Great shoot with Hannah Geoff from Assets recently. Hannah dropped down recently to update her portfolio. We aimed for mostly natural looks for this shoot. Any questions regards lighting or setup, drop them in the comments below.
I have been fortunate to work with various Miss Ireland’s over the years. It is always great working with such beautiful, elegant and hard working women. Sacha is no different. The Hillsborough beauty worked her way up from the Miss Antrim title to the goal of Miss Ireland. She is currently with CMPR so is no stranger to the fashion world and presenting herself well. Unfortunately success wasn’t to be had at the Miss World event, but she was a great ambassador for Ireland.
We had a great day shooting in studio, with a nice early start for Sacha for her drive down. We were aiming for a easygoing test shoot, natural makeup, nothing major. Sacha looked after her own hair and makeup for the shoot and what a great job she done. We shoot on my usual white background and we also tried out my new black corner set. It is a still work in progress and there is lots of testing to do with it to see what kind of light can be achieved with it, but so far so good.
The bodysuit look against the white wall was the more striking of the looks. It showed off Sacha’s 5’9 figure perfectly. The shots were featured in the Irish Sun in March 20th. Screenshot shown below also.
As you can tell, I have not been posting as much behind the scenes posts as much anymore, that is purely a time issue. Social Media is the best way to see what I get up to on a shoot. Click on the links on the top right. Also, if you have any questions on anything, post them in the comments below.

I met up with Chloe on my last London trip. Chloe is an Irish girl living and working in London at the moment and she wanted to get do a shoot to get some nice pictures. As you can see, Chloe looks amazing and really rocked it at the shoot. Her friend Zoe was there also and she even got a few shots done after she seen how much fun Chloe was having.
We started off with the the easy looks, the body suit etc., something to ease into it. The first look of a shoot is always the hardest as there will be a certain amount of anxiety and confidence needing to be build. I generally do a good job ( I think 🙂 ) of helping people feel confident for a shoot, and Chloe is no exception here. At the end of the day, confidence is what make a person attractive; once you feel good, you look good.
We were shooting in the apartment that I had rented for the few days while I was there and they had great windows, plenty of natural light flooding in so I made the mode of it along with a 35mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4 ( Sigmas).
What do you think of the shots, are the too glamoury or are the just nice? I am always interested to hear about what other people think of my work. Let me know in the comments below. You can follow Chloe on Instagram also.
Emma Quinlan, what a woman. She wears many hats and does it well. Her Twitter bio sums her up well: “Geek, Usually found on a mountain. Dogs & horses, yoga or writing. Crossfit gets me to summits, Everest summit 2017. editor/contributor/dreamer:”
I shot with Emma in studio ages ago ( Oct 2014) but didn’t get around to posting the pictures for two main reasons. One being they it was for a feature in Arsenic Magazine (since removed?) and also for the fact that i have generally kept and NSFW ( Not Safe for Work ) images away from the blog. Not sure really why… maybe it’s the catholic upbringing casting a un-approaving eye over it. Either way… I am over that now and have lots of NSFW shoots to post up. The are a mixt classy fashion nipple, black and white type shots, right up to more glamour looks that I shoot… mostly when in the UK. Click the NSFW tag to view more shoots like that.
But minions I hear you say? Aye…. sure why not. Emma love her minions and sure any excuse it good to get to hang out with Emma. Emma is a very interesting girl and has done lots and have lots going on . Follow her on Twitter and Instagram to keep up with what she does.
Check the Emma Quinlan tag to see what else we have gotten up to together. And as always, any questions on it, drop them in the comments box below.
Lisa Hogan, dance teacher and pageant beauty. She recently represented Northern Ireland in the Miss Supernatural competition. We had a fantastic shoot recently, sporting a few different looks, some Calvin Klein and nice black lingerie. Being a dancer, Lisa is a natural when it comes to posing.
It was our first shot together and we had plans to do more dance related shots. However with the recent storms, I had a little leak in the roof and it stained the cyc wall and I didn’t get a chance to repaint it. Watch this space though for some cool dance shots coming soon.

If it just me… or is Lisa the spit of Britney Spears here?
All of these shots (except the black and white) were shot with my on camera flash bracket. I am loving that light, especially against a white wall. It is so simple, it removes a lot of distractions form a shoot and puts the attention back on the model, not the light. That kind of light does have its downsides, it can cause redeye, it can be harsh on the model and it really highlights makeup quality. It is also demanding on a the flash, so lots of batteries needed.. or a battery pack.
The images may not look the best once you load them up onto the computer, but with a few exposure and contrast adjustments it can really make them pop.
